Rich Klein, President of LawFirmsPR (www.lawfirmspr.com), is a media relations/crisis communications consultant with more than 25 years of experience in public relations and journalism. Klein has advised law firms of all sizes and their clients since the early 1990’s on media relations, crisis/litigation communications, reputation management and social media strategies.
He has spoken before numerous local and state bar associations and business groups on media relations/crisis communications and has written articles on these subjects for the National Law Journal, PRWeek, The Mann Report, The New Jersey Law Journal and Strategies, the magazine of the Legal Marketing Association. His blog, “Views On Reputation,” deals with law firm marketing / public relations issues, crisis communications and online/offline reputation management. Klein is also the founder of the Crisis Communications Network on Ning.com and is an active participant in all aspects of social media.
Klein's ability to uncover hidden news for and about his clients, write sharp press materials that get noticed by busy reporters and shape a story that clearly conveys his clients’ key messages, have contributed greatly to his clients’ success.
Over the years, he has secured media coverage for his clients in top-tier business and trade publications, in daily and weekly newspapers, on the major wire services and on television and radio. He has also developed extensive media contacts across industries including legal, accounting, real estate, healthcare, sports and entertainment for more than a quarter century.
Before launching LawFirmsPR.com, Klein headed the Law Firm Group at Beckerman Public Relations, after operating as the sole proprietor of Riverside Public Relations LLC from 2002 through 2008.
He has also worked in the law firm/professional services groups at Rubenstein Associates and Magnet Communications. Earlier in his career, he held the top media relations positions at Proskauer Rose LLP, the New York County Lawyers' Association and the Anti-Defamation League.
Klein started his career as a journalist, first as a writer and editor for The Legislative Gazette and later as a sports writer for The Daily Freeman (Kingston, N. Y.) and The Ithaca Journal, where he was part of a sports reporting team that won a Best of Gannett award in 1985.
